Flexibility exercise

90/90 Hip Stretch

How to do it

  1. Sit on the floor with the front leg bent to 90 degrees in front of the body and the back leg bent to 90 degrees behind it.
  2. Keep the front shin roughly perpendicular to the torso and the back shin angled away behind the hip.
  3. Square the chest over the front shin and hinge forward slightly from the hips while keeping the spine long.
  4. Ease into the position until a stretch is felt through the front hip and glute area without forcing the range.
  5. Breathe slowly and evenly, allowing the hips to settle further into the position with each exhale.
  6. Hold for about 20 to 30 seconds, then release gently and switch the leg positions.
