Strength exercise

Push-up (Wide Grip)

How to do it

  1. Start in a high plank with hands set wider than shoulder width, fingers pointing forward, and the body in a straight line from head to heels.
  2. Brace the core and squeeze the glutes to keep the hips from sagging or piking.
  3. Lower the chest toward the floor by bending the elbows out to the sides, working the chest, triceps, and forearms through the wider hand position.
  4. Descend until the chest is a few inches from the ground before reversing direction.
  5. Press back up to the starting plank, exhaling on the push and inhaling on the way down.
  6. Keep the elbows from flaring past about 45 degrees below the shoulders and avoid letting the hips drop.
