Strength exercise
Weighted Sit-up
How to do it
- Lie on the back with the knees bent, feet flat, and hold the added weight against the chest.
- Anchor the feet if needed and keep the chin slightly tucked to protect the neck.
- Curl the torso upward off the floor, engaging the core to drive the movement rather than pulling with the neck.
- Continue until the torso is upright over the hips, keeping the weight close to the chest throughout.
- Lower back down under control, uncurling the spine one segment at a time.
- Exhale on the way up and avoid using momentum or yanking the arms to fling the torso upward.
