Strength exercise

Ab Wheel

How to do it

  1. Kneel behind the ab wheel on a mat with your knees hip-width apart and hands gripping the handles.
  2. Set the wheel under your shoulders and take a full breath in to brace the core before moving.
  3. Count a slow three-second roll-out, extending the arms and hips forward while keeping the spine neutral.
  4. Stop the roll-out at the deepest point you can hold without the lower back arching or the hips dropping.
  5. Reverse the wheel back to the knees over another slow three-second count, driving through the abdominals.
  6. Reset your breath at the top and repeat each rep at the same controlled tempo rather than rushing the set.
