Strength exercise

Torso Rotation Machine

How to do it

  1. Sit in the machine with the hips and thighs secured against the lower pads and the chest against the rotating pad.
  2. Set the seat height so the chest pad sits at mid-torso level and grip the side handles.
  3. Brace the core and rotate the torso to one side against the resistance, leading with the ribs rather than the arms.
  4. Rotate as far as control allows while the hips stay pinned in place by the lower pads.
  5. Exhale during the rotation and inhale while returning to the center starting position.
  6. Return under control to center before rotating to the opposite side, avoiding jerking the weight stack.
