Strength exercise
Cable High-to-Low Wood Chop
How to do it
- Set the pulley to its highest position and stand sideways to the machine with feet wider than hip-width, gripping the handle with both hands.
- Brace your core and rotate your torso to reach the handle up and out to the high side.
- Pull the handle down and across your body in a diagonal chopping path, pivoting the back foot and rotating through the hips and quadriceps.
- Finish with your hands outside the opposite knee and the gluteus maximus and calves driving the rotation.
- Exhale as you chop down and inhale as you rotate back to the start under control.
- Avoid rounding the lower back during the pull; let the rotation come from the hips and torso together.
