Flexibility exercise
Thoracic Extension (Foam Roller)
How to do it
- Lie on your back with the foam roller placed horizontally beneath your shoulder blades.
- Bend your knees, plant your feet flat on the floor, and interlace your fingers behind your head for support.
- Keep your hips on the ground and slowly arch your upper back over the roller, extending through the thoracic spine.
- Lower back down under control until your shoulders return to the floor, working the muscles of the back through the full range.
- Move at a slow, steady tempo, inhaling as you extend back and exhaling as you return to the start.
- Keep your hips grounded throughout rather than letting the lower back arch to complete the range.
