Strength exercise
Standing Cable Crunch
How to do it
- Attach a rope handle to a high cable pulley and stand facing the machine, gripping the rope on either side of your head.
- Set the feet shoulder-width apart with a slight bend in the knees for a stable base.
- Brace the core and flex the spine forward, crunching the ribs down toward the hips against the cable resistance.
- Keep the hips stationary and let the movement come from the abdominals rather than the arms or shoulders.
- Exhale sharply as you crunch down and inhale as you control the return to the upright position.
- Avoid pulling with the arms or rounding through the lower back excessively; let the core drive the motion.
