Strength exercise

Squat (Bodyweight)

How to do it

  1. Stand with the feet shoulder width apart and the toes turned out slightly.
  2. Brace the core and reach the hips back and down as if sitting into a chair.
  3. Lower until the thighs reach at least parallel to the floor while keeping the knees tracking over the toes.
  4. Keep the chest upright and the heels planted throughout the descent.
  5. Drive through the heels, extending the quadriceps and gluteus maximus, to return to standing.
  6. Keep the descent controlled rather than letting gravity drop the hips too quickly.
