Cardio exercise
Sprinting (200m)
How to do it
- Start from a standing or blocks start on a curved section of track, angling the body slightly into the turn.
- Accelerate hard over the opening strides, then settle into a controlled maximal-speed rhythm.
- Keep the knees driving high and the biceps femoris and quadriceps working through a full stride extension around the bend.
- Rotate the arms in a compact front-to-back swing to help hold balance through the curve.
- Maintain a near-maximal effort pace through the straightaway, breathing in short forceful bursts.
- Resist the common fault of over-striding late in the distance, keeping stride length consistent as the calves fatigue.
