Flexibility exercise

Spinal Twist (Seated)

How to do it

  1. Sit tall in a sturdy chair with both feet flat on the floor and the knees together.
  2. Place one hand on the outside of the opposite knee and the other hand on the back of the chair behind you.
  3. Inhale to lengthen the spine, then exhale as you rotate the torso toward the hand on the chair back, leading the twist from the core.
  4. Feel a stretch through the obliques and along the spine while keeping both sit bones grounded in the seat and the shoulders level.
  5. Hold the rotation for 5 to 8 slow breaths, deepening gently on each exhale.
  6. Unwind back to face forward and repeat the twist on the opposite side.
