Strength exercise
Side Plank Rotation
How to do it
- Set up in a side plank on your forearm, elbow stacked under your shoulder and feet stacked or staggered for balance.
- Reach your top arm straight up toward the ceiling, opening your chest and stacking your shoulders.
- Rotate your torso and thread the top arm underneath your body, twisting through your core.
- Reverse the rotation and open back up to the starting side plank position, reaching the arm back toward the ceiling.
- Exhale as you rotate through and inhale as you open back up, keeping the hips lifted for the full work duration.
- A common fault is letting the hips drop during the twist, so keep the core braced and the hips high throughout the rotation.
