Strength exercise

Shoulder External Rotation (Cable)

How to do it

  1. Set a cable pulley to about elbow height and attach a single handle, standing sideways to the machine.
  2. Grip the handle with the arm furthest from the machine and tuck that elbow against your side at 90 degrees.
  3. Brace the core to keep the torso still, then rotate the forearm outward and away from the cable stack.
  4. Pause briefly at the end of the rotation without letting the elbow drift away from the ribs.
  5. Return the forearm slowly back across the body under control for each repetition.
  6. Exhale on the rotation out and avoid twisting the torso to help move the handle.
