Strength exercise
Rotator Cuff External Rotation
How to do it
- Anchor a resistance band at elbow height and stand sideways to it, holding the band in the hand furthest from the anchor.
- Tuck the elbow of the working arm against your side and bend it to roughly 90 degrees.
- Keeping the elbow pinned to your ribs, rotate the forearm outward against the band to work the rotator cuff.
- Pause briefly once the forearm reaches a comfortable end range without the elbow drifting forward.
- Exhale during the rotation out and inhale as you return the forearm slowly back to center for each repetition.
- Avoid letting the elbow lift away from the torso or the shoulder shrug upward during the movement.
