Strength exercise
Sandbag Overhead Squat
How to do it
- Clean the sandbag to the shoulders, then press or push it directly overhead until the arms are extended and locked.
- Set the feet shoulder width apart and brace the core to keep the bag stacked above the middle of the foot.
- Descend by sitting the hips back and down while continuing to press upward into the sandbag throughout the movement.
- Lower until the thighs reach parallel, letting the quadriceps and glutes control the depth of the squat.
- Drive through the feet to return to standing, keeping the arms locked and the bag from drifting forward.
- Exhale near the top and lower the sandbag back to the shoulders under control once the set is finished.
