Strength exercise

Ring Support Hold

How to do it

  1. Set gymnastic rings at a height that lets your arms hang fully extended below your shoulders when supported.
  2. Grip the rings with a neutral hand position and press down to lift your body into a straight arm support above them.
  3. Turn the rings out slightly and pull them down against your sides to load the shoulders and triceps brachii.
  4. Brace the core and keep the ribs stacked over the hips so the body forms a straight line.
  5. Breathe steadily through the nose and hold the top support position for the prescribed duration.
  6. Keep the shoulders pulled down and back throughout the hold instead of letting them creep up toward the ears.
