Strength exercise

Plate Pinch

How to do it

  1. Set two weight plates smooth sides facing out on the floor and stand close beside them.
  2. Squat down and pinch the plates together between the thumb and fingers of one hand, gripping only the smooth edges.
  3. Stand tall while holding the plates at the side of the leg, keeping the shoulder pulled back and down.
  4. Brace the core and hold the pinch grip still, letting the forearm flexors carry the load without swinging the plates.
  5. Breathe steadily through the hold rather than holding the breath the entire time.
  6. Lower the plates back to the floor under control once the hold time or set is complete, then repeat with the other hand.
