Strength exercise
Plank (Walking)
How to do it
- Begin in a forearm plank with elbows stacked under your shoulders, forearms pressed flat into the floor, and feet set hip-width apart.
- Press one palm into the floor and straighten that arm, then follow with the other arm to rise into a high plank.
- Reverse the movement by lowering one forearm to the floor and then the other, returning to the starting forearm plank.
- Keep your hips square and your core braced through every transition so your torso does not twist or rock.
- Continue alternating the lead arm at a steady pace for the full work interval, exhaling as you press up and inhaling as you lower.
- A common fault is letting the hips rise or sag during the transition, so hold a straight line from shoulders to heels throughout.
