Strength exercise

Farmer's Walk (Heavy)

How to do it

  1. Load two matching implements to a challenging heavy weight and set them at your sides before gripping the handles firmly.
  2. Brace the core hard and drive through the legs to stand the weight up fully, keeping the shoulders pulled back and down.
  3. Crush the handles with the forearm flexors and hold that grip tension throughout every single step.
  4. Walk forward with short, deliberate steps, keeping the torso upright and the weights close to your sides.
  5. Breathe in short controlled bursts and resist any side to side lean as the heavy load pulls at your grip.
  6. Set the implements down with control at the end of the distance rather than dropping them, releasing the grip only once they are stable.
