Strength exercise

Farmer's Walk (Thick Grip)

How to do it

  1. Select two implements fitted with thick handled grips and stand between them with feet hip width apart.
  2. Bend the knees to grip each thick handle fully with an open hand position, since the fingers cannot fully close around the width.
  3. Stand tall by driving through the legs, letting the forearm flexors take the strain of holding the oversized grip.
  4. Walk at a steady, even pace, keeping the wrists straight rather than letting the thick handles roll toward the fingertips.
  5. Keep the core braced and ribs stacked over the hips, breathing normally as you cover the walking distance.
  6. Lower each implement to the floor under control at the finish, opening the hands only after both are set down safely.
