Strength exercise
Plank (Reverse)
How to do it
- Sit on the floor with the legs extended straight and the hands placed slightly behind the hips, fingers pointing toward the feet.
- Press through the palms and heels to lift the hips off the floor until the body forms a straight line from shoulders to ankles.
- Brace the core and squeeze the glutes, keeping the chest open and the head in a neutral line with the spine.
- Keep the legs straight and active throughout the hold, pointing or flexing the feet depending on comfort.
- Breathe steadily while holding the position, resisting any sagging of the hips back toward the floor.
- Hold for the prescribed time then lower the hips back down to release; letting the shoulders round forward or the hips drop is the fault to watch for.
