Strength exercise
Pike (Stability Ball)
How to do it
- Start in a push-up position with the hands under the shoulders and the tops of the feet resting on a stability ball.
- Brace the core and keep the body in a straight line from head to heels before starting the movement.
- Keeping the legs straight, roll the ball toward the hands by lifting the hips up and forward, folding at the hips into a tall pike shape.
- Keep the arms straight and the shoulders stacked over the wrists as the hips rise toward the ceiling and the ball travels in underneath the body.
- Pause briefly at the top of the pike, then roll the ball back out to the starting plank position under control, keeping the legs extended throughout.
- Keep the hips from sagging or piking too early, and breathe steadily through the roll in and out.
