Strength exercise

Oblique Crunch (Side)

How to do it

  1. Lie on your side with knees bent and stacked, and rest the lower arm across the torso or lightly behind the head.
  2. Place the top hand behind the ear or across the chest to keep the neck relaxed and neutral.
  3. Brace the core and lift the shoulder and rib cage a short distance toward the hip, leading with the side of the torso.
  4. Exhale as the ribs draw toward the hip and feel the effort concentrated through the obliques and core.
  5. Lower back down under control without letting the torso rock forward or backward.
  6. Complete all reps on one side, then switch sides and repeat the same setup.
