Strength exercise

Medicine Ball Russian Twist

How to do it

  1. Sit on the floor with knees bent and feet either planted or lifted off the ground, holding a medicine ball with both hands at chest height.
  2. Lean your torso back to roughly 45 degrees while keeping the spine long rather than rounded.
  3. Brace the core and rotate the ball to tap the floor beside one hip.
  4. Rotate through to the opposite side, letting the torso and ball travel together in a controlled arc.
  5. Keep the hips relatively still so the rotation comes from the obliques rather than the arms alone.
  6. Move at a steady, controlled tempo, exhaling with each rotation.
