Flexibility exercise

Leg Swings (Side to Side)

How to do it

  1. Stand facing a wall or sturdy support and hold it lightly with both hands for balance.
  2. Shift your weight onto one leg and let the other hang free.
  3. Swing the free leg across your body and then out to the side, keeping the torso facing forward.
  4. Let the motion drive from the hip, working the glutes and hamstrings through the crossing path.
  5. Brace the core to keep the hips and shoulders square as the leg swings.
  6. Keep a steady, controlled tempo rather than swinging as high or fast as possible.
