Strength exercise

Leg Raise (Bent Knee)

How to do it

  1. Lie flat on the back with the knees bent and the hands pressed lightly under the lower back for support.
  2. Engage the core and draw the knees up toward the chest until the hips lift slightly off the floor.
  3. Keep the bend in the knees constant throughout the movement so the hip flexors carry less of the load.
  4. Exhale as the knees rise and inhale as they lower back toward the floor without resting at the bottom.
  5. Lower the legs under control until the hips are about to touch down, then repeat for the next repetition.
  6. Keep the lower back pressed toward the floor throughout, avoiding any arch as the legs descend.
