Leg Press Calf Raise

How to do it

  1. Sit into the leg press machine and place the balls of your feet on the lower edge of the footplate, heels hanging off.
  2. Set your feet hip width apart with legs extended to roughly three quarters, not fully locked out.
  3. Brace your core and release the safety catches before starting the movement.
  4. Press through the balls of your feet to push the plate away, extending your ankles fully to load the calves while the quadriceps hold the leg position.
  5. Exhale as you press the plate away and inhale as you let your heels drop back for a full stretch.
  6. Avoid bending the knees to assist the press; keep the movement isolated to the ankle joint throughout.
