Strength exercise

Lateral Raise Machine

How to do it

  1. Adjust the seat so the shoulder joint lines up with the machine pivot and sit with the back flat against the pad.
  2. Grip the handles or set the outer forearms against the pads with elbows slightly bent.
  3. Brace the core and keep the torso still against the seat throughout the set.
  4. Push the arms outward and upward until they reach roughly shoulder height.
  5. Pause briefly at the top, feeling the lateral deltoids working, then return slowly to the start.
  6. Keep the movement controlled and avoid letting the weight stack drop quickly on the way down.
