Strength exercise

Dumbbell Side Lateral Raise

How to do it

  1. Stand holding a dumbbell in each hand by the sides with palms facing inward.
  2. Set the feet hip width apart with a soft bend in the knees and a slight forward lean.
  3. Keep a slight bend in the elbows and raise both arms out to the sides together.
  4. Lift until the hands reach roughly shoulder height, leading the movement with the elbows.
  5. Pause at the top to feel the lateral deltoids working, then lower with control.
  6. Keep the traps relaxed and avoid shrugging the shoulders up toward the ears.
