Kneeling Cable Crunch

How to do it

  1. Kneel facing a cable machine with a rope attachment set at the top pulley, and hold an end of the rope in each hand at the sides of your head.
  2. Set your knees about hip-width apart and brace the core before pulling any weight downward.
  3. Curl the torso downward by flexing at the spine, drawing the ribs toward the hips rather than pulling with the arms.
  4. Keep the hips still and stacked over the knees throughout, isolating the movement to the abdominal curl.
  5. Exhale forcefully as you curl down and inhale as you return the torso to the upright kneeling position with control.
  6. Avoid yanking the rope with the arms and shoulders; the pull should come from the abdominal curl, not the arms.
