Strength exercise

Kettlebell Romanian Deadlift (Single Leg)

How to do it

  1. Hold a kettlebell in the hand opposite the standing leg and balance on that standing leg with a soft, fixed knee bend.
  2. Keep the hips level and extend the free leg straight back as a counterbalance.
  3. Brace the core and fix the standing knee bend before hinging.
  4. Hinge forward at the standing hip, lowering the kettlebell toward the floor while the free leg rises behind, loading the lower back, glute, and hamstring (biceps femoris) of the standing leg.
  5. Inhale on the descent, exhale returning upright, moving at a slow, controlled pace to hold balance.
  6. Avoid letting the standing knee buckle inward under load; keep it tracking over the foot.
