Strength exercise

Kettlebell Lunge (Racked)

How to do it

  1. Hold a kettlebell in the racked position against your chest and shoulder, elbow tucked in close to your ribs.
  2. Stand with feet hip-width apart and brace your core before starting the movement.
  3. Step backward or forward into a lunge, lowering both knees while keeping the racked arm still against your chest.
  4. Press through the front heel to drive back up to standing, keeping the kettlebell steady in the rack position.
  5. Exhale as you press up and inhale as you lower, completing all working reps on one side before switching the kettlebell to the other shoulder.
  6. A common fault is letting the racked elbow flare outward, so keep it tucked against your ribs throughout the rep.
