Strength exercise
Kettlebell Lunge (Overhead)
How to do it
- Press a kettlebell overhead in one hand, locking out the elbow directly above your shoulder, and stand with feet hip-width apart.
- Brace your core to keep your torso upright and the kettlebell stacked overhead throughout the movement.
- Step backward or forward into a lunge, bending both knees while keeping the overhead arm steady.
- Press through the front heel to drive back up to standing, keeping the kettlebell locked out overhead.
- Exhale as you press up and inhale as you lower into the lunge, completing all reps on one side before switching the load to the other arm.
- A common fault is letting the overhead arm drift forward, so keep the wrist stacked over the shoulder throughout each rep.
