Strength exercise

Kettlebell Deadlift (Conventional)

How to do it

  1. Place a kettlebell on the floor between the feet and stand with a hip width stance, shins close to the handle.
  2. Grip the handle with both hands using a double overhand grip.
  3. Brace the core and set a flat back with the hips dropped and shoulders over the kettlebell.
  4. Drive through the heels and extend the hips and knees together, standing tall as the lower back, glutes, and hamstrings (biceps femoris) finish the lift.
  5. Inhale before the pull, exhale as the hips reach full extension.
  6. Avoid letting the kettlebell swing forward away from the shins as it leaves the floor; keep it traveling in a straight vertical line.
