Strength exercise
Kettlebell Bulgarian Split Squat
How to do it
- Hold a kettlebell by the horns in front of your chest, or one in each hand at your sides, and rest the top of one foot on a bench behind you.
- Set a comfortable stride length in front of the bench and brace your core before beginning.
- Bend your front knee and lower your back knee straight down toward the floor, keeping your front shin close to vertical.
- Descend until your front thigh is near parallel, feeling the load through your front leg's quadriceps and glutes.
- Drive through your front heel to stand back up, exhaling as you extend your front hip and knee.
- Avoid pushing off your back toe for momentum, and keep the work in your front leg throughout.
