Strength exercise
Hip Abduction Machine
How to do it
- Sit in the machine with your back flat against the pad and the outside of each thigh against the moving lever pads.
- Set the seat position so your knees align with the machine's pivot point before selecting a challenging load.
- Brace the core to keep the pelvis still and the low back pressed into the pad throughout the movement.
- Push the thighs outward against the pads, squeezing the gluteus maximus to drive the legs apart.
- Pause briefly at the widest point, then return the legs back together with control rather than letting the stack slam down.
- Exhale as the legs press outward and inhale as you return, keeping the movement smooth for every rep.
