Strength exercise
Hammer Curl
How to do it
- Stand holding a dumbbell in each hand at the sides with the palms facing the torso in a neutral grip.
- Pin the upper arms against the ribs to keep the shoulders out of the movement.
- Curl both dumbbells straight up toward the shoulders, keeping the wrists neutral throughout to target the biceps and forearms.
- Squeeze at the top of the curl before reversing direction.
- Lower the dumbbells back to the sides under control, inhaling on the way down and exhaling on the way up.
- Keep the elbows fixed at the sides and avoid swinging the torso to sling the weight upward.
