Strength exercise
Alternating Hammer Curl
How to do it
- Stand holding a weight in each hand at the sides with the palms facing the torso in a neutral grip.
- Curl one weight straight up toward the shoulder, keeping the wrist locked in the neutral position throughout the movement.
- Keep the upper arm pinned to the torso so the biceps drive the curl rather than the shoulder.
- Lower the weight back to the starting position under control while the opposite arm stays still.
- Alternate sides each rep, exhaling on the lift and inhaling on the lowering phase.
- Avoid letting the elbow drift forward away from the torso as the set continues.
