Strength exercise

Alternating Hammer Curl

How to do it

  1. Stand holding a weight in each hand at the sides with the palms facing the torso in a neutral grip.
  2. Curl one weight straight up toward the shoulder, keeping the wrist locked in the neutral position throughout the movement.
  3. Keep the upper arm pinned to the torso so the biceps drive the curl rather than the shoulder.
  4. Lower the weight back to the starting position under control while the opposite arm stays still.
  5. Alternate sides each rep, exhaling on the lift and inhaling on the lowering phase.
  6. Avoid letting the elbow drift forward away from the torso as the set continues.
