Strength exercise

Gripper Close

How to do it

  1. Hold the gripper in one hand with the handles resting across the base of the fingers and the pad against the palm.
  2. Wrap the four fingers around the outer handle and set the thumb firmly against the inner handle.
  3. Brace the wrist straight and squeeze the handles together by contracting the forearm flexors as hard as possible.
  4. Close the gripper fully until the handles touch, keeping the wrist locked rather than letting it bend to assist the close.
  5. Exhale sharply through the effort of the close and inhale as you allow the handle to open back under control.
  6. Reset the grip fully open between reps and repeat for the full set before switching hands.
