Flexibility exercise

Glute Stretch (Lying)

How to do it

  1. Lie on your back with both legs extended flat on the floor.
  2. Bend one knee and draw it up toward the chest, then guide it gently across the body toward the opposite shoulder.
  3. Hold the shin or thigh with both hands and ease the knee closer until you feel a stretch through the glute of the bent leg.
  4. Breathe steadily, exhaling as the knee settles a little closer to the chest with each breath.
  5. Hold the position for 20 to 30 seconds, then switch legs.
  6. Keep the opposite leg flat on the floor rather than letting it lift, which is the most common fault that shifts the stretch.
