Dumbbell Sumo Squat

How to do it

  1. Hold a single dumbbell vertically with both hands in front of your body and set your feet wide with toes turned outward roughly 45 degrees.
  2. Brace your core and keep the dumbbell close to your torso before beginning the descent.
  3. Bend your knees and sit your hips straight down between your legs, pressing your knees outward to track over your toes.
  4. Lower until your thighs are near parallel to the floor, feeling the wide stance emphasize your quadriceps and glutes.
  5. Drive through your full foot to stand back up, exhaling as you extend your hips and knees.
  6. Avoid letting your knees drift inward or your torso round forward as the dumbbell pulls you down.
