Strength exercise

Dumbbell Single Arm Curl

How to do it

  1. Stand holding a dumbbell in one hand at your side with an underhand grip and your feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Keep your elbow pinned to your ribs and let the dumbbell hang at a full stretch to start each rep.
  3. Brace your core and keep your torso upright, resting your free hand on your hip for balance.
  4. Curl the dumbbell up toward your shoulder without moving your upper arm, squeezing the biceps hard at the top.
  5. Exhale as you curl up and inhale as you lower the dumbbell back down under control.
  6. Avoid swinging your torso or letting your elbow drift forward, both of which let momentum lift the weight instead of the biceps.
