Strength exercise
Dumbbell Oblique Crunch
How to do it
- Lie on your back with knees bent and feet flat, holding a single dumbbell against your chest with both hands.
- Brace the core and curl your torso up and to one side, aiming the ribs toward the same-side hip.
- Feel the effort concentrated through the working oblique at the top of the curl before lowering back down.
- Complete the set on one side before switching, keeping the dumbbell steady against the chest throughout.
- Exhale as you curl and rotate, inhale as you return to the floor.
- A common fault is pulling the neck forward with the arms, keep the dumbbell stable and drive the motion from the torso.
