Strength exercise

Dumbbell Bulgarian Split Squat

How to do it

  1. Hold a dumbbell in each hand at your sides and rest the top of one foot on a bench behind you, standing a comfortable stride length in front.
  2. Balance your weight through your front foot and brace your core before beginning the descent.
  3. Bend your front knee and lower your back knee straight down toward the floor, keeping your torso upright throughout.
  4. Descend until your front thigh is near parallel to the floor, feeling the load through your front leg's quadriceps and glutes.
  5. Drive through your front heel to stand back up, exhaling as you extend your front hip and knee.
  6. Avoid letting your front knee cave inward or your torso pitch forward as fatigue sets in.
