Strength exercise
Decline Sit-up
How to do it
- Lie back on a decline bench with feet secured under the footpads and knees bent.
- Cross the arms over the chest or lightly touch the fingertips to the temples without pulling on the neck.
- Curl the torso upward off the bench, driving the movement from the core until the chest nears the thighs.
- Lower back down with control, keeping tension in the core rather than dropping quickly.
- Exhale as you curl up and inhale as you lower back down.
- Keep the chin slightly tucked and avoid yanking the neck forward, a common fault that shifts load away from the core.
