Strength exercise
Curtsy Lunge
How to do it
- Stand with feet hip-width apart, hands on your hips or holding added resistance at your sides.
- Brace your core and step one foot diagonally behind and across your standing leg, like the start of a curtsy.
- Bend both knees to lower your hips straight down, keeping your front knee tracking over your front foot.
- Press through the front heel to return to the standing start position.
- Exhale as you stand up and inhale as you step back, completing all reps on one side before switching legs.
- A common fault is letting the front knee collapse inward, so keep it aligned with the front foot throughout the descent.
