Strength exercise
Cross Body Hammer Curl
How to do it
- Stand tall holding a dumbbell in each hand at your sides with a neutral, palms-facing-in grip and feet hip-width apart.
- Keep your elbow pinned to your side and curl one dumbbell diagonally across your body toward the opposite shoulder.
- Brace your core and keep your standing posture still, resisting any urge to lean toward the working side.
- Squeeze the biceps at the top where the dumbbell crosses toward your opposite shoulder, then pause briefly.
- Exhale as you curl across and inhale as you lower the dumbbell back down the same diagonal path.
- Alternate arms with control; do not swing the dumbbell or shrug your shoulder to add height to the curl.
