Strength exercise
Captain's Chair Leg Raise
How to do it
- Position yourself in the captain's chair apparatus with forearms resting on the pads and back pressed flat against the support.
- Grip the handles and let the legs hang straight down with a slight bend in the knees.
- Raise the knees toward the chest by curling the pelvis upward, driving the movement from the core rather than swinging the legs.
- Pause briefly at the top before lowering the legs with control back to the starting hang.
- Exhale as the knees rise and inhale as the legs lower.
- Avoid using momentum to swing the legs up, a common fault that shifts effort away from the core.
