Flexibility exercise
Calf Stretch
How to do it
- Stand with the balls of both feet on the edge of a step or curb, heels hanging off the back edge.
- Hold a rail or nearby support lightly for balance if needed, keeping both legs straight with only a soft bend in the knees.
- Lower both heels below the level of the step until you feel a stretch through the calves.
- Breathe steadily, exhaling as you let the heels settle a little lower with each breath.
- Hold the position for 20 to 30 seconds.
- Rise back up onto the balls of the feet slowly to release, avoiding dropping the heels sharply to force extra range.
