Strength exercise

Calf Raise

How to do it

  1. Stand with the balls of the feet on the edge of a step, letting the heels hang off the back.
  2. Hold onto a rail or wall for balance and keep the knees straight but not locked.
  3. Lower the heels below the step level to feel a full stretch through the calves.
  4. Rise up onto the toes as high as possible, squeezing the calves at the top.
  5. Hold the top position briefly before lowering back down slowly.
  6. Avoid bouncing out of the bottom stretch to help the raise.
